DANCE IN THE CAR - Episode 1

Here's something the family stumbled upon while in the car. We just let the movie function of our camera work and we taped ourselves dancing in the car. Now, to us, it is not unusual since our family loves to dance and that we do it all the time in the car.

Hope you enjoy it. Who knows? This might be a new phenomenon that can reach the internet world by storm.

Why not do your own DANCE IN THE CAR videos, put it online and let me check it out.

God bless!

IRON MAN THE MOVIE ROCKS IT!!!

After all the delays, traffic and other circumstances, I was able to watch the IRON MAN movie with my family. It was also a good thing that it was a reserved-seat movie house and I got good seats. I was very excited because it was something I've waited for since I saw the trailer online. And believe me, it was all worth the wait.

I will not tell you about the story nor any scenes that can give away the movie. But I will tell you that watching the movie will give you a sense of adventure and excitement. When I sat down, I felt like a kid again (as if I didn't feel like one everyday). Was the trailer just a come on or does the movie really rock. Well, the movie rocks 100%. From the opening scene till the last, I was at the edge of my seat. I didn't even notice that two (2) hours already passed by. I was so enveloped with the drama and suspense.

Not only that, it felt like the comics I read as a kid jumped into the screen. It's not anymore a drawing or a cartoon. It was a "real-life" figure. It was IRON MAN. Martin Downey Jr. is Tony Stark. He breathe life into the character. He was Tony Stark. I just love how he made the character his own.

The movie will not disappoint the avid comic fans of IRON MAN. It did stick to the original plot of the story. If you have not read a single comic book about the hero, the movie will tell you how he started and more. Leaving the theater will make you an orientation on IRON MAN.

And that's what is good about the movie makers. They do know that IRON MAN has a loyal fan base. If they do something dastardly, then the internet will be flocked with "DON'T WATCH THIS MOVIE!!!" posts. So far, I haven't read them yet.

IRON MAN has a lot of lessons to learn: the importance of a second chance, the value of power, what to do when given the power to change the world..etc. I'm sure you will be able to get some lessons to learn in the film.

I'm sure you will agree with me on this. Now is the best time to really make this film. If it were done years ago, it will not give any justice. The movie will flop big time. But with the advances of CGI technology, IRON MAN truly is a work on art on film. They made him do stuff that we could not do years ago. Kudos to the film makers and the nameless and faceless people who tirelessly made the CGI work wonders. Good job guys!!!

Personally, we have not seen the last of IRON MAN. Just like Spider-man and Fantastic Four, we will see a franchise on this character. I can't wait to see the other characters on film.

Have you watched the film already? Tell me what you think. Post your COMMENTS here. Let me know what you think. I want to hear from you!!!

Enjoy the movie, folks! FIVE STARS.

EVAN ALMIGHTY IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED BY RODNEYGARCIA.COM

Yes. You are reading this correctly. I am writing this at 2AM simply because I watched together with my wife and two of my coolest colleagues in new.media the last full show of EVAN ALMIGHTY.

Folks! I am HIGHLY RECOMMENDING that you watch this movie. This movie will inspire you, encourage you, move you and remind you of God's love and concern for us. I cried of laughing at the jokes. I cried about the wonderful reminders of God (played by Morgan Freeman) on Evan Baxter (played by Steve Carell). The movie is quite clean. Some little statements here and there but it is generally clean. You won't hear an S of F words.

Watching this film reminds me of so many things. It made me remember when I was running about from my calling 7 years ago and how difficult it was for me to let go of my own plans and let God's plans reign. The film reminded me of how God does want to have a relationship with us and how he's not a killjoy. I can go on and on about this film. But I don't want to write too much because I don't want to spoil the movie for those who haven't seen it yet. I will write about this in a couple of days until the movie is out of circulation (at least in the Philippines).

WATCH THIS FILM then EMAIL ME (rodneygarcia@yahoo.com) about what you think. I'll put your comments here on the website with your name in a future post RE: EVAN ALMIGHTY.

As you can see, it morning. Noah..I mean.. Rodney needs to sleep.

Until then, God bless.

RATATOUILLE IS A GREAT FAMILY MOVIE

I just love the movies made by Pixar. They are really family oriented movies that even my 6 year old can watch. Mind you, not all cartoons are watchable by 6 year olds (ahem..Simpsons..ahem).

Ratatouille is the story of a very special rat with a very special love for cooking. Ironic, I know but that's what makes this story interesting. With the people around him telling him that he's just a rat and cannot do anything much, he goes out to fulfill his dream - to become a chef.

I could write the things I learned from the movie and there are a lot. I think I will be writing sniplets here from time to time. But the movie spoke life and hope to me especially now. I've been into some rapid fire criticism from unknown people. Thanks to Pixar, it reminded me a lot of things about life and about dreaming.

Don't stop dreaming folks. It is from these dreams that make our lives better. Individually and as a nation, we should never stop dreaming. Not only is it free but it is the beginning of great things. Age, race nor social status should not stop you from dreaming. With hard work and with God's help, you can do it.

Watch Ratatouille. I recommend it.

Until then, God bless.

IT'S BEEN AWHILE

I haven't been able to blog in the past two days. I've been so busy with so many things in the office. Tonight, we just got back from Paranaque to get Rafa's tailored blazer. Aida was watching HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL when Rafa (who was sleeping) woke up and went out of the room. Now, we're all here in the living room watching HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL (Aida for the 1st time. Me and Rafa for the nth time.)

Tomorrow will be Rafa's first school field trip. I'll be with him. I'm very sure I'll be taking video and photos of the trip.

Until then, God bless.

KASAL. KASALI. KASALO.

(I'm posting this at January 14, 2007 @ 12am because we didn't have internet connection last Friday. No internet. No Blog. Thanks!)

I don't usually watch Filipino movies in theatres(unless they're really good). Better yet, watch it twice. But this one was a big exception. KASAL. KASALI. KASALO.

It's a story that revolves around the life of two single people (played by multi-award winning actress Judy Ann Santos and real-life boyfriend Ryan Agoncillio) who decided to get married. It showed the different typical situations a couple goes through: wedding preparations, parent's welcome and unwelcome involvement in their lives and the different challenges the faced. I can go on and on about the movie but I think it's better you watch it for yourself. If you can't watch it, be sure you get the DVD. I'm sure I will.

I watched this movie together with Aida, Rafa and my new media ministry partners (namely Odette, Ivy, Iya, Dhong and his wife Lea). It was Aida and I who motivated them to see it because it was really a great film.

If we only make movies like this, our industry will flourish. People (regardless of masa or sosi) will go out of their way to watch it at least once.

If there are any producers reading this blog, please listen.

We like good movies and we will watch good movies. If you think Filipinos will not support Filipino films, think again. We will as long as it is a good product. Regardless whether we belong to the upper echelon of society or the lower level of the system, people will spend their hard earned money and watch a good Filipino movie.

If you continue to think that Filipinos cannot understand compelling stories, please think again. We watch foreign movies starred by Denzel Washington or Johnny Depp that talk about complicated topics. We appreciate it because the film doesn't think we're stupid.

My producer. We want to watch good Filipino movies. If you produce such, we will watch.

I STAYED HOME, WATCHED AVIATOR AND WALKED MY DOG

I was suppose to go to work but I wasn't feeling good. My throat hurts. So I asked to stay at home...alone. Yup. Just me. Well, not really alone because I was with our dog CHULA (a toy poodle). I took time to sleep, hang our overdue laundry and watch some TV.

At last, I got to watch THE AVIATOR. It's a movie about rich tycoon Howard Hughes. He had all the money and the fame. Yet, behind it, he had traumas, fear of germs and was paranoid with almost everything. Imagine that. All the fame and money and you're not happy. You can't buy happiness and a good nights sleep. It's true that not everything can be bought.

I may want a lot of things but I don't need a lot of things. Most of the things I need, I have especially those that most people look for: peace of mind and security. Not because of my own efforts but because of my Saviour - Jesus Christ.

Later that night, I walked my dog for the first time. It was fun bringing him around the compound. She was walking quite fast and she was so thirsty when we got home.

Simple joys. Till next time.
