THANK YOU SO MUCH EVERYONE

Hello folks!

This will be my first blog for the year 2009. So much has happened in 2008 and I will write my thoughts about it tomorrow in another blog.

But I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for 2008.

I want to thank those who gave gifts to me for Christmas 2008. It was very sweet to remember me and be part of your gift list for the Christmas season. I want you to know that I appreciate what you have given me: food, items and even financial gifts. Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart. These gifts are simple ways to show how you appreciate yours truly. It feels good in my soul and spirit to receive these with all humility. Whenever I receive gifts, I am deeply honored because someone took the time to remember me and thought about me. Some gave clothes and clothing accessories such as ties. I will be using them during services and during my business engagements. I hope you catch me wearing them to show my outmost appreciation. Those who gave food, I thank you .They have not just fed my stomach but my soul as well. For all these gifts, I say THANK YOU.

I want to thank those who believe in me in 2008. Yes. There are countless people who didn't give Rodney Garcia much of a chance n 2008. Peopel doubted my abilities and what I can put on the table. But as much as there are doubters, there are supporters. I want to THANK YOU for giving me opportunities, opening new doors of ministry and involvement in the community, for believing that I can do it and for being a friend when I needed it.  To you I say, THANK YOU.

I want to specifically thank some people and groups.

WORD FOR THE WORLD, its pastors and its attendees specifically the 8am Sunday Service congregation, workers, Gener8 group and various supporters - You have constantly opened yourself to me and have seen me grow. You have cheered me on especially during my dark period in 2008. I want to thank you for lending your encouragement and support to me and my family. For 2009, God will bless the works of our hands and he will take us to places we have not dreamed before.

The New.Media Ministry - We have laughed and cried together. We have dreamed and failed together. We have grown apart and have been brought together. Yet, through it all, your support was unwaivering. You are my family. We do not know what the future holds for us. But one thing is for sure, the bond between us will NEVER be broken.

Kidzone Church - Thank you for being an inspiration to me. Every time you hug me, it makes me feel good inside. I pray that I have been able to make your life better, teach you things that make you a better person and help you become closer to God. I miss you all.

I want to thank those who visit my websites, watch my videos, send me comments and support my causes. Every time I type, every time I shoot a video, every time I post a message, I always have you in mind. I always think if what I type, say or record will impact your life. Not that I am as significant as the world leaders or CEOS. But I believe that I can do my part to make your life a bit better. Thank you for letting me talk to your via YouTube. Thank you for watching my videos and listen to my opinions. I will continue to do these things knowing that I am speaking LIFE to you TODAY. To you I say, THANK YOU.

I want to thank the FACEBOOK community and the wonderful people I have met through Facebook. Peopele ranging from simple folk, celebrities, people of influence and even politicians. I thank you that you took the risk of adding me to your account. I thank you that you took the time to talk to an unknown fellow. I thank you that you trusted me to be your friend though we have not met personally. To my Facebook friends, I say THANK YOU.

To my wife, Aida, and my son, Rafael. 2008 has been a time of great trials for our family. Yet, it was an opportunity for us to be closer as a family. Aida - you have been a pillar of strength. Rafa - you are always an inspiration that pushes me to be a better father. Our family has faced tremendous odds. Still, we have passed them and learned from them. I love you both.

Finally, and with all of my heart, I want to THANK GOD for 2008. I want to thank Him for always having me in mind (as with all of us). God taught me many things in 2008. It was a testing of character and integrity. I learned so much and I carry all these lessons to 2009. I know that greater things are in store for me in 2009 and 2008 was my training session. Lord, you know my desires and dreams. Once again, I give them to you. Let your will be done in me. To my Saviour, Lord and Best Friend, Jesus, I say THANK YOU.

WHEN MINISTRY IS FAMILY

I spent the night of December 19 with people who I though I wouldn't spend this year - the WWCF New.Media ministry. Through the years, this ministry has been a breeding ground for creativity and innovation. More importantly, the people of this ministry are family. I have seen them grow. I have felt their pain. I have loved being their spiritual mentor and friend. Being with them made me just be me.

It was a night of games, singing, food, more singing and endless laughter. Media loves to laugh and we are not ashamed of it. It was a night for us to just let our hair down and just have good clean fun.

To be honest, our parties are simple: Put food in the middle of the room, plug in the Ziller Karaoke machine and away we go. Imagine. Five hours of non-stop singing and games. Wow!

Thank you media for making me part of a wonderful night of singing and fun. I'm sure we have more to come soon!

I love you guys!

THE EDGE RADIO EXPERIENCE

Hello folks! Here's my account of the EDGERADIO EXPERIENCE.

I got to the studios around 5:30pm to beat the traffic which is predominant around the area. Friday night = Rush hour traffic. I didn't want to be late for my first full-pledge radio interview. To be honest, it has been a dream of mine to be on radio. Maybe as a DJ. But God blessed me more as I was being interviewed by my dear friends Ron, Joyce and Owie.

Going back, I was there early and was very excited. I was trying to climatize myself with the booth and the fact that I will talking on air in a few minutes. Owie graciously toured me around and introduced me to some of the staff. Around 5:55pm, Ron and Joyce have not arrived yet. They're suppose to do the interview with me. So Owie was preparing to go on board and was quite nervous. Then, a few minutes later, Ron and Joyce arrived. Whew for Owie.

The show started. Around 6:30pm, Joyce had a talk with me just to do some background stories. Most of the things you heard in the LIVE show were discussed beforehand. That's where the stories about my involvement in the new age, the stories about my family and my ministry were briefly talked about.

7pm. I'm on. I was nervous. I was excited. I couldn't believe this was the answer to a prayer. Fo about 30 minutes, I was talking about how God changed my life and how life has been good with God around. Let me tell you, it felt good being in the booth. All those days I'd hang out in the DJ booth when I was in college daydreaming to be one day be interviewed on air has come to pass. God does answer prayer!!!

If you want to check out the interview, please view the video below.

That was one awesome interview. Too bad I wasn't able to do a rap for them which we talked about before. Hopefully, I'll be back to do it.

Thanks again to EDGE RADIO for guesting me on the show. Hope we do another one in the future. I have a feeling we will be working closely soon.

Ron. Joyce. Owie. My wonderful and supportive friends who, unconsciously, believed in me - THANK YOU!!

PREACHING TONIGHT

Hello folks! I will be preaching tonight at the THURSDAY NIGHT WORSHIP (TNW) service of WORD FOR THE WORLD. If you have time, please join me and let's just be encouraged by God's word.

102 Valero st. Salcedo Village, Makati City.

MY NEW BIG TASK: WWCF TELEVISION CHANNEL

I have been given one of the biggest challenges so far in my life. I have been assigned to be part of a working team to lay the ground work for the Word for the World Television Channel.

It is a herculean task. But I am confident in my teammates and the ministries that are involved in this major project. It is in the impossible that we see God do the possible. Please do pray for me because so much needs to be done for this channel. I will update you all about this.

Personally, I am very excited. Please don't get me wrong. I'm not saying it will be easy. I know it is not. But there is just something exciting when you think about starting something new for the church. I have always been a strong advocate of making things better. This is another avenue for me to be used by God to make things better.

Until then, God bless you all!

LEGACY PROJECT AND OTHER STUFF

Hello folks.

Finally, the Legacy project of Word for the World will be out in a few days. The Special Events committee has worked so hard to put this long overdue plan into reality. I took really dedicated and hard-working people to put this three-volume set together. It took a lot of prayers and determination. It was not an easy task. There were hesitations, distractions, altercations and decisions that we had to encounter. Plenty of sleepless nights and frustrating times for myself, my wife, the writing cast and the editing team as we checked and double-checked every typo and photo.

Personally, I'd say this is the best work I've done so far. I have designed brochures and posters in the past. This is my best work yet. I humbly say this. I have poured so much of myself into this project that it took away alot from me. This project literally stretched my creativity both in design and in writing. I have yet to get back to my form. Even writing this blog is taking me longer that it should.

On November 9, 2008, the Legacy Book will be launched at the WWCF 28th Anniversary at the PICC. This is for the Project Caleb fund which will be used for the purchase of our new WWCF church site. We hope you can support us.

Right now, I am preparing for the KIDZONE CHURCH worship service at the PICC Forum Tent on November 9. We're very excited about this. I'm excited just to be with the kids again and my KIDZONE coaches whom I have not worked with for the longest time.

Also, I'm getting myself ready to finish my rquirements for school. Yup. I'm in school. I'm working on my masters degree. And, yes, it does involve typing and making reports. Like I said, I'm still trying to get back into sync here. My brain kinda went haywire due to excess creativity. But God is good.

Again, please do support the Legacy project. I'll keep you posted for more in a days to come.

Until then, God bless.

I GAVE MY LIFE TO MINISTRY SIX YEARS AGO

Six years ago today, I accepted God's plan for me - to become a full-time pastor.

I still remember it clearly.

About 2pm on June 14, 2002, while driving, my brother-in-law texted me of an opening at our church's school - International Christian Academy. He mentioned that they were looking for a chaplain (a person in charge of Christian duties such as chapel service and such) and had me in mind. I laughed because the first thing that came in my mind was a stiff guy in a suit - all serious. That wasn't me. I didn't see myself as a chaplain. So I went home.

I was at my loft in our rented house in Moonwalk, Paranaque. I made a call to the last company I was applying for a job. I was confident to get that job simply because I had very good connections with the president of the company. The job was at the palm of my hand. I sent a very impressive 5-page resume highlighting my achievements in the I.T. (Information Technology) industry.

However, at the back of my mind, I was talking to God. He has been dealing with me for two years about a call to do full-time ministry. I knew deep inside me that I was destined for this. But my dreams and ambitions dictated. I wanted to be a big time CEO of an IT company. I have been working for it all my life. However, a voice in my head told God, "If this company rejects me, then I will surrender to your will."

I picked up the phone and called. I asked confidently about my application. Then, the voice at the other line said, "I'm sorry Mr. Garcia. The position has been filled." That was it. I knew it was not meant to be. I was not meant to be a CEO. I was made to be a pastor.

So, on that day, I prayed this prayer."

"Lord, beginning today, I give to you my dreams and ambitions. My goals and my plans. I want your plans to be my plans. Your dreams to be my dreams. Your goals to be my goals. Beginning today, I submit to your will."

And just like that, the wheels of fate started churning. Come Sunday morning, I was wearing a suit and was on stage in church. Tuesday morning, I went to the school and was introduced as the new ICA Chaplain. I still remember going from classroom to classroom and meeting all the students I will be mingling with - all 600 students from pre-school to high school.

Six years later, I'm still here doing God's work. Things have changed. And things will change for the better.

What does the next six years hold for me? Only God can tell. But it all started when I said "YES" six years ago.

CHANGES AT RODNEYGARCIA.COM AND MY LICENSING EXAM

Hello folks!

In the next few weeks, rodneygarcia.com will be going through a make-over. No. Not me but my website (although a personal make-over isn't that bad either.)

Upon prayer and deep thinking, my website will be more than just blogging.

This site will be more than just a blog site as it was for the past two years. The new website will be a place of encouragement, hope and life. I have decided to harness the power of the internet to spread not just the love of God but the uplifting of our soul and spirit.

Here, you will be able to listen to podcasts, watch videos and learn a thing or two about how life can be both challenging and rewarding.

Also, I hope this site becomes a bridge between you and me. I do want to know what you think about the stuff you see here.

Should the site look a bit weird in the next few days, that means you are redirected to my new web host. Still, http://rodneygarcia.blogspot.com will continue to exist.

For now, you can contact me at rodneygarcia@yahoo.com. To read more about the developments, visit http://rodneygarcia.blogspot.com.

Also, I'll be having my licensing exam tomorrow morning at around 8am. So I'd really hope you can pray for me. If I pass this exam, I will be given the 'license' to conduct weddings and marriage ceremonies. Cool huh! Please keep praying for me.

Thanks and may God bless you!

NEW.MEDIA RETREAT IS LIFE CHANGING

This retreat is life-changing.

Coming to the retreat place of the Lotilla's was a challenge. This was during the time when Sen. Trillanes staged a failed attempt to overthrow the government. Thus, putting a curfew from 12AM to 4AM. Then, the highway going to the place was a parking lot as cars traveled bumper-to-bumper. We got there 1AM.

Deep in my heart, I knew something great will happen in this retreat. Life-changing would be the right term.

We started the day with breakfast courtesy of the culinary skills of Mommy Cons. Then, we had our devotion. We talked about the importance of DREAMING BIG even if we are adults. Dreaming is not just for kids. To dream is to expect great things from God and to make impossible things possible for God's glory. God loves dreamers especially those who dream God's dreams. We were encouraged by God to become dreamers especially at this time.

We had a great moment of prayer. We were crying and really pouring our hearts out to God. It's great when God's people go down in their knees in prayer. We felt God really spoke to our hearts.

In the afternoon, we had a wonderful session with Bro. Willy Chua, our special guest speaker. I've heard him speak before and it was a blessing he was with us. He talked about how we are the God's media army and that we can reach the world through the things we produce. Do I hear DREAMING BIG? Also, he talked about the ATTITUDE OF GRATITUDE. It is the attitude to be thankful of the things we take for granted. Simple yet so powerful.

I'd like to thank Bro. Bert and Sis. Kate Lotilla for their hospitality in having us in their retreat place. It was there that we heard God and saw that there was much more at stake for the future. We left that place different and on fire for God.

Hope to post the pictures here soon.

God bless you folks. Don't stop DREAMING!

PREPARING FOR NEW.MEDIA RETREAT

The new.media ministry and I will be having a much-needed retreat. We will be leaving tomorrow night for Bae, Laguna and return on Saturday - December 1, 2008.

I am excited for this retreat. We have a special guest speaker coming over, who is, Mr. Willy Chua. I hope to post some pictures and, maybe, video of the retreat here soon.

I want to thank all those who email me regarding last Sunday's sermon - DREAM BIG. I do hope you were inspired and encouraged to dream big. We can dream big because we have A BIG GOD - JESUS CHRIST.

Please do pray for us in our retreat. God bless you!

"THE CHAP IS HERE!" - ICA RETREAT

I want to thank the precious students of ICA Grade 7 Batch 2007 for inviting me in their retreat. I had a great time with you.

I want to appreciate you for participating in the teaching and I hope you learned something. Somehow, all these years, you have not forgotten how we did chapel service five years ago. You still love VEGGIETALES. I pray that you do not lose the power to dream big and that you do not succumb to peer pressure. Stand up for what you believe in and become what God wants you to be.

I pray that you all graduate this summer and enter better things in your life.

To all the teacher and staff headed by Ptr. Ed Soriano (ICA Chaplain), thank you so much for your invitation. Until next time sir!

God bless you ICA!!! Be warriors for Jesus.

OSAMA AND RODNEY?

Before you tell the authorities that I met with Osama Bin Laden, let me just tell you that this is my good friend, Mark Martin, wearing prosthetics for the CHANGE MANAGEMENT SEMINAR. He portrayed Moses. For a guy who played Jesus in our cantata, he does a good Moses impression. Plus I got to hold the staff. Who can say that he got to hold Moses' staff. One in a Millions. Ha! Ha! Ha!

Mark is such a trooper. He's not shy in being part of things like these especially if it will drive the point home. Great job Mark!

LEGACY PROJECT SOUVENIR BOOK

Hello Folks. I've been quite busy being involved in WORD FOR THE WORLD's project entitled the LEGACY SOUVENIR BOOK. It's a very exciting book that chronicles the history and future of WWCF. I've mentioned this before on the site.

I'd like to encourage you to become a sponsor in this project. It's important to me and to the church. We do need your help and support. Kindly visit the OFFICIAL LEGACY PROJECT website for details.

Below are some of the videos I created for the project. Watch it please.

Until then, God bless.

POWERFUL AND ANOINTED

Folks. Just got home from the concert of the WWCF choir. Let me tell you that it was truly awesome. The stage was simply set up. Not flashy designs. No dancing performers. Just the choir and wonderful songs. The simplicity brought the best out of the people's worship. The choir did an excellent job. I know they poured out their heart and soul into this project. For that, I applaud them.

Their hard work payed off. People went to accept the Lord that night. Truly amazing.

If you missed it, well make sure you catch the performances prepared by WWCF. God has given different churches different gifts. For WWCF, the gift was music. We thank God for this gift and we plan to use it for HIS GLORY.

Until then, God bless.

HOW WE DO A PODCAST

Hello folks.

I didn't notice that it has been 1 year already since Sis. Evelyn Uy and I did our first podcast. Time flies when you're having fun. Indeed, Evelyn and I have so much fun when we do the podcasts.

People asks us how we do our podcasts. Some think that we have scripts or something. So to answer those questions and more, we prepared a video for you to watch. It's entitled OVEREXPOSED: BEHIND THE SCENES.

This would be the first of a series of videos we will be doing to Word for the World. Please do watch it and leave your comments and messages. As always, be constructive. Things can be said in a positive way.

Until then, God bless.

TIME WITH THE YOUNG ADULTS AND OTHER THOUGHTS

I was invited to preach at the Young Adults ministry last night at the 4th floor of the ACCM building. This ministry is very near and dear to me and my wife simply because we were among the few who started the ministry from scratch. It took a lot of praying and hard work to bring the ministry back on its feet.

I talked about how the things we do can be used as a justification to be in God's presence; that we earn our spot in heaven. It is by grace we can be saved and not because of our good works. Hopefully, some people go to hear a good word or two from the Lord.

Looking at the ministry today, I believe that the YA have so much to offer to WWCF and the the Body of Christ in general. I believe they have so much potential in them both individually and as a group. It just needs to be tapped and used properly. I prayed for them last night and I hope this could spark something greater in their ministry.

Excellence is not an option. It is a necessity. God wants us to be excellent in what we do. Not perfect because we can never attain perfection. But as we do things in excellence, it reflects to the God that we serve. Mediocrity must have no place in church or in our life. Do not expect great things to happen when you do things in mediocrity.

It was my choice to live an excellent life. Other people don't like to see excellence flourish. Unfortunately, sometimes, excellence is misinterpreted as arrogance. But that view should not stop us from doing what we need to do to get the job done. When you count the cost and compare it to the greater good, it is easier to take the risk and do it.

I hope this new culture of excellence will infiltrate the lives of the people of WWCF and the world.

Until then, God bless.

GOD IS AT WORK Podcast Season 2
Episode 9: "Being a blessing in today's world."

I just want to share this podcast that we do at WORD FOR THE WORLD together with my partner, Sis. Evelyn Uy. It's a weekly podcast with practical topics but with meaningful content.

Have a listen and let me know what you think.

Until then, God bless.

MAY MARKS ANOTHER YEAR

Since I began my full-time ministry as a pastor of WORD FOR THE WORLD, May has somehow become the start of my official year. It's like in accounting where they have cut-off dates or sports leagues where they have the start of their tournaments which don't even fall on a January.

I take my annual two-week vacation during April 15 and return by the first week of May. It is in these two weeks where I get to reflect at the past year: my accomplishment, my goals, my failures. Also, I ask the Lord the direction for the coming year. Where to go? What plans to do? What goals to reach?

Even before my vacation, I received some news. News that will change the direction of my current five year tenure as a WWCF pastor. Starting May 1, I am now officially the new Pastor-in-charge of the Kids (Children's) Ministry. To be honest, I am very much excited to be part of such a dynamic and creative ministry. Being in the Kids ministry opens up so much creative and innovative possibilities. However, the task is monumental. I have a big task ahead of me, of which time is something I have no luxury of.

Let me be honest. I am excited. But there is a part of me that is afraid. Yes. I do fear at times. I guess it is because the task is really big. This is not like new.media where I handle a group of 20 - 30 individuals. Here's a ministry that reaches out to every single child in the church. It is estimated that the number of children could reach to 1500 kids. It's just like a church already if you look at the number.

I am up to the task. This new responsibility will not be given to me if the people in leadership do not believe in me. I guess it's just natural for me to feel this way. But I'm blessed because I have the support of my wife, my son, the new.media ministry and my fellow pastors who believe that I'm up for the challenge.

What's in store for me? Whatever it is, I'm sure it will be exciting. Challenging? Yes. But I've always been up for the challenges. All my life, I've been an underdog. Today is no exception. I've always wanted to prove that I can do it and that I'm right.

The transition is quick. No time to settle and start growing on each other. Time is of the essence and it is something we have not. Every second counts.

Hope you include me in your prayers, folks. It's going to be a great ride.

Until then, God bless!
